FAQs About Classic Games in the Alete Style

  • At what age are Alete's classic games suitable?

It all depends on the game:

You can play the Snake and Ladder game even with younger children who can count. Memory is also suitable for younger children and simply grows with them. Battleship and Nine Men’s Morris, on the other hand, are better suited for slightly older children who are already familiar with coordinates or strategic thinking.

  • What else do I need besides the download?

What makes our Alete Edition special: we use our snacks as game pieces.

But of course, there are other ways to play, and most of the time you’ll only need small items you already have at home: for example, a pen, a few buttons as game pieces, or a die. For each game, you’ll find a detailed list of what you need on the corresponding page.

  • Are the games really completely free?

Yes! All four classic games are available for download as PDFs—just print them out, get started, and play together.

  • How often should we play together as a family?

It's not about how often, but about the quality of the time spent together. Even just ten minutes spent mindfully together, without any distractions, can create moments of genuine connection.

  • How many players can play these games?

It varies: You can play Memory and Snakes and Ladders with a group, while Battleship and Nine Men's Morris are classic two-player games. You can find details about each game on the respective subpage under “What You'll Need.”
