Healthy, delicious, and a treat for the eyes: Our chick-shaped bread for Easter breakfast
With this delicious chick-shaped bread, Easter breakfast is twice as fun - and it provides plenty of healthy energy for the Easter egg hunt.
So cute you could just eat it - even though it's savory
To make this delicious chick bread, you'll need:
- 1 slice of rye bread
- a little butter (to hold it together)
- a little cress
- 1 carrot
- 1 hard-boiled egg
- 1 yellow bell pepper
- 1 cucumber
Here's how it works:
- Spread butter on the slice of rye bread
- Sprinkle cress on the slice of bread
- Peel the egg and cut off a small piece from one long side to create a flat surface
- Peel the carrot, cut two slices from it, and “carve” two chick feet out of them
- Cut three thin strips and a small triangle from the bell pepper
- Assemble the chick on the slice of bread: Place the egg in the center, the carrot feet at the thick end of the egg, the three bell pepper strips as head feathers at the thin end of the egg, and use the small bell pepper triangle as the beak. Two poppy seeds can serve as eyes
- Peel the cucumber, slice it, and use a cookie cutter to cut out small hearts from the cucumber. Scatter these around the chick as a garnish
Enjoy!
… and here you can see how it’s done ;-)
