Healthy eating also means letting little foodies have a snack every now and then. But be careful: ...
Sometimes it doesn’t take much to turn an ordinary afternoon into something special. A blanket draped over two chairs, a few pillows on the floor—and suddenly the apartment is an adventure camp. For toddlers between the ages of 1 and 3, a homemade den is more than just a game: it’s their own little hideaway, a place to cuddle, read aloud, and explore together.
The best part? You don’t need to buy anything or prepare anything—just get started and build it together. Your child will quickly take the lead.
Here's what you'll need
Here's how to do it
1. Build the basic frame. Set up two to four chairs about one meter apart, or use a sofa and coffee table as natural supports. The sturdier the frame, the more epic the cave.
2. Throw the blanket over it. Throw a large blanket or sheet over the frame and secure the corners with clothespins. Tip: Two blankets layered on top of each other make the cave even cozier and darker—perfect for flashlight adventures.
3. Decorate the inside Now comes your child’s favorite part: pillows, stuffed animals, and a blanket to snuggle under. A small string of lights or a flashlight turns the cave into a real secret hideout.
4. Let’s go inside together! Crawl right in, read a book aloud, or just leave the outside world behind for a while. Toddlers love it when Mom or Dad are part of the adventure, too.
Alete Tip: Turn the cave into your little snack spot: bring in a banana or a few Alete kids’ cookies, and the afternoon is guaranteed to be unforgettable.
