Up, down, and start all over again!

Snakes and Ladders is one of those classic games that just never gets boring.

No long explanations, no complicated rules - just roll the dice, hope for the best, and get caught up in the excitement. That’s exactly why it’s perfect for those in-between moments when you want to spontaneously spend a few minutes together.

Instructions for the Snake and Ladder Game in the Alete Edition

Here's what you'll need

  • The Alete game board (download below)
  • A die
  • Game pieces for each player (e.g., buttons, small stones, or even our “Fruities”)
  • At least one other player

You can download the game board for the Alete relay game here

How to Play:

  • Starting Position: All game pieces start on space 1.
  • Rolling the dice: The youngest player goes first. Players take turns rolling the dice and moving their piece forward accordingly.
  • Up the ladder: If a piece lands at the bottom of a ladder, it goes straight to the top - a small leap forward.
  • Sliding down the snake: If a piece lands on the head of a snake, however, it unfortunately has to move back a few spaces.
  • Win: The first player to land exactly on the last space wins.

Make game night a regular little ritual in your daily routine - for example, right after dinner. Adding a small serving of fruit or an Alete snack on the side makes it even cozier. It’s not the length of time that matters, but that you’re really engaged in the activity.

These Alete snacks are great for use as game pieces and as a snack
